ExperienceAs a home schooled student, I tutored/taught all three of my younger siblings in a wide variety of subjects for almost ten years, in addition to volunteer work with other homeschool students in co-op programs and the like.
I've been studying Shakespeare for over five years now, working with both the MBC MFA/MLitt program and the actors of the American Shakespeare Center to expand my skills and experience in areas like textual analysis and interpretation, practical staging, and public speaking/performance.
I've also studied logic/critical thinking in various ways since I began highschool--besides a class in highschool and a more formal class in college, I participated in debate and mock court competitions for several years, and have won awards in both debate and mock court.
I want to be a tutor because I love sharing the things I've learned, and because watching someone connect the dots is an incredibly rewarding experience. My goal is to someday go back to school and become an educator, so tutoring seems like a logical step in that direction.
HobbiesI've always loved anything creative--art, theater, crafts, you name it, I've probably done it, with varying degrees of success. I play a little piano but not enough to teach, and I know the basics of knitting, crochet, and sewing by hand and machine. I also really enjoy cooking (and can offer basic lessons in that area if you're interested), fashion, and doing people's hair.
